Pastor Gregory Says… (6/22/16)

CIC ArtworkWe have much to look forward to this weekend as we will have the opportunity to thank and celebrate Pastor Rick for all of his wonderful work and service to this community and our church. We are so blessed to have him and what better way to show it than by celebrating him this weekend! Bring a card, a cake, a turtle figurine, a letter, a picture, or maybe a really long hug – either way bring yourself and some joy to share with everyone around as we thank God for our Pastor and his leadership as we seek Christ together.

It is also PRIDE month and this Sunday is the Pride Parade in San Francisco! I will be volunteering with multiple queer community groups in the city to participate in a variety of ways in hopes of not merely enjoying the sites but utilizing the time to network and possibly expand the good news of our Queering Church project. I am so thankful and proud to work with a faith community that boldly stands for the lives of queer people as they are targeted at mass shootings, legislative bathroom attacks, and continued cultural phobias of all kinds. It is scary when you walk out on the water for those being beat up on and abused but that’s probably the challenge Jesus was assuming would be there when he said, “love your neighbor as yourself.”

Our all church retreat with Daniel Pryfogle is coming up next month! Please RSVP by calling the church office at 650-327-0561. We are going to be taken on an adventure with Daniel through our own narratives and the stories that shape our lives. In doing so we hope to grow in our understanding of ourselves, one another, and God our creator. After learning so much from our shared patio experience this retreat is bound to be a life changing experience. I cannot wait!
