Our Joys and Concerns from Sunday July 16th were:

Lois Ville with gratitude that her brother-i-law, Lee;’s heart surgery went well and thanks for our prayers as well as the good work of doctors, caregivers and family who supported and cared for him

Katharina Borchert for her friend, Pam, who is a missionary in Burma and has started a school that is in need of government permission to build on the land they purchased for the school.

Our Joys and Concerns for this week include:

Birthday Joy: Daniel Ramirez (July 16)

Lois Ville for her brother-in-law who had successful surgery Monday to replace an aortic valve.

Charlotte Jackson for the people in Haiti who our special offering (OGHS) has supported after many natural disasters destroyed the island.

Pastor Rick for Marcia Patton, whose mother died last week; for the family and friends of my mentor, David Bartlett, who had a fall and severe stroke in Chicago last week and is in the University of Chicago Hospital.

Pastor Gregory for the brave families (and others) crossing borders, now having their retinas scanned and are being robbed of their dignity, loved ones, and their low-wage work-life by racist politicians in the highest of offices.

For the wonderful work of Church World Service and for all those who benefit from One Great Hour of Sharing!

  • Prayers of thankfulness and gratitude for our denominational biennial conference: The American Baptist Biennial Mission Summit. Lots of hard working went into creating a wonderful experience for all.

One of the leaders, Philip Stargate sent the following note us on Sunday morning: “Much as we are seeking for many of you our friends to be part of what we do, at the same time we are seeking for ways we can be part of what you do. For this reason you are important to us and we are relentless in accomplishing God’s vision through relationships. Thank you and we are praying for you.”
